ESSENTIAL PASSPORT AND VISA INFORMATION

US Passport passport needs to be valid for at least six (6) months after your trip ends. It needs to contain a minimum of two (2) blank visa pages for entry and exit stamps.

A tourist visa is required for U.S. and Canadian passport holders for entry into Indonesia. We find that the eVisa is the eaiest to obtain in advance. Use this link: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ Use the link to submit both eVisa and mandatory Arrival Card.

You must enter and exit through an immigration checkpoint at major airports and seaports.

You also must have a return or onward ticket to another country and have not been previously refused entry to Indonesia.

Visa on Arrival: Travellers entering Indonesia from entry points not part of the visa exemption will be required to pay a fee of USD $35 in order to obtain their tourist visa on arrival.

Visa in Advance: A visa stamp in your passport can be obtained either by applying directly to an Indonesian consulate or through a visa processing service. While there are additional costs involved in using a visa service, this option is available for guests who prefer assistance in the visa process. VisaCentral offers easy, efficient U.S. passport and visa processing.

Citizens of countries other than the U.S. and Canada should contact the appropriate consular office for entry requirements pertaining to their journey.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & TRAVEL ADVISORIES

For U.S. and Canadian residents:

Visit the U.S. Department of State at travel.state.gov or the Government of Canada at travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories for up-to-date information and travel advisories.

All requirements are subject to change.

Entry Requirements: All travelers to Indonesia must meet the following requirements:

YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION & MALARIA PREVENTION: A yellow fever vaccination is only required to enter Indonesia if you are arriving from, or have transited through, a yellow fever-endemic area in South America or Africa. The CDC and WHO each provide a current list of all affected countries. If vaccination for yellow fever is necessary, you must carry an International Certificate of Vaccination provided by your physician; you may be denied entry without it. If your physician advises against receiving the vaccination because of your personal medical history, he or she can provide you with the necessary documentation for the country/countries you are visiting. You may be traveling to an area of malaria transmission. We strongly advise that you speak with your doctor or travel clinic regarding your itinerary, individual risk assessment, and options for mosquito bite prevention and antimalarial drugs. We recommend filling any prescriptions before you depart.

Use deet-free bug repellent to minimize dengue risk. Most local marts sell them and they are inexpensive and usually contain safe ingredients and essential oils.

CASH & CARDS

Debit and major credit cards are widely accepted for goods and services, as well as tap to pay. Cash transactions can generally be made in either Indonesian Rupees or some take U.S. dollars if it is exact. USD should be recently issued bills in smaller denominations in order to be exchanged for IDR. Access to ATM machines is widespread in cities and towns but may be limited in rural areas and may charge fees.
